2013 Emmy Nomination Predictions and Hopefuls: Best Supporting Actress (Comedy)

WHO I THINK WILL GET A NOMINATION:

Jessica Walter (Arrested Development)
- Julie Bowen (Modern Family)
- Merritt Weaver (Nurse Jackie)
- Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory)
- Sarah Hyland (Modern Family)
- Sophia Vergara (Modern Family)

COLD HARD LOCKS: Julie Bowen, Sophia Vergara, Mayim Bialik

EARNED A NOD LAST YEAR, SHOULD EARN ONE THIS YEAR: Merritt Weaver

Since you don't watch Nurse Jackie, I'll tell you who Merritt Weaver is. She's the chubbier girl that Schmidt on New Girl fell for after CeCe left him. She was excellent. "Oooooohhhhhhhhh!"

COMPLETE AND UTTER GUESSES: Jessica Walter, Sarah Hyland

It seems almost impossible for a kid actor on Modern Family to get nominated, but with Hyland's brief foray into college, and becoming more of an adult on the show, I think the Emmy voters finally reward her. I also think that Arrested Development gets SOME Emmy love, so the former nominee Walter seems like a lock.

WHAT I'M PROBABLY WRONG ABOUT: Jane Krakowski

Krakowski plays (played?) Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock. She's been nominated in this category for 3 out of the past 4 season, and she's not eligible for this character anymore. However, the biggest thing working against her is that the one year in the past 4 she wasn't nominated was last year. And it seems that once your out of the Emmy family, YOU'RE OUT!

WHO I THINK THE NOMINEES SHOULD BE:

- Alison Brie (Community)
- Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation)
- Hannah Simone (New Girl)
- Jane Krakowski (30 Rock)
- Jenna Fischer (The Office)
- Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation)

OBVIOUS "SNUB": Jenna Fischer

As much as Ed Helm's Andy Bernard tried to destroy The Office final season, Pam and Jim did their best to save it. Hitfix's Alan Sepinwall wrote that while "Goodbye, Michael" was the last episode for the Michael Scott storyline, it was not the last episode for The Office. There are (were?) so many other characters on the show who's natural arcs did not end- including Jim and Pam's. As amazing and incredible as Steve Carell was on the show, the main reason we all stuck around for as long as we did was because of Jim and Pam. Jenna Fischer evolution throughout the show's 9 year run was incredible, and so was her work during this last season.

Who Gave Your Favorite Supporting Female Performance in a Comedy This Past Year?
